Cinnamon is desktop environment which is a fork of GNOME Shell. It is derived from GNOME 3 but has a look and feel closer to GNOME 2.
The Cinnamon desktop environment is a fork of GNOME Shell gnome-shell. It uses code from GNOME 3, but emulates the look and feel of GNOME 2 gnome, in particular keeping the desktop metaphor. Cinnamon was initiated by Linux Mint linux-mint developers.
Cinnamon includes:
- Muffin, a window manager based on Mutter
