put the same label logically on the disk I have put in there. EDIT2: This is about Ubuntu Linux 12.04 server. EDIT3: On GPT partitions there is also the partlabel, which can be set with e.g. parted. See https://serverfault.com/q/681088/76442 …

Based on the answers I got (Thanks guys!) there seems to be no way to actually label disks but only partitions. So the answer probably is "NO". I will go with the suggestions proposed by @cas and @20 …
