I really really want cached passphrases for ssh to expire after a couple hours. This duplicates Configuring the default timeout for the SSH agent which had some good answers, but none of them work for me.

As best I can tell, ssh-agent is not being launched from xsession. It isn't launched at all until I do something that needs it. Then it is launched by gnome-keyring-daemon as

/usr/bin/ssh-agent -D -a /run/user/1000/keyring/.ssh

Documentation on how gnome-keyring-daemon works has been hard to come by. Someone did steer me toward installing dconf-editor and changing /desktop/gnome/crypto/cache/gpg-cache-method but that isn't working either.
