find command with exec: are there differences between \; and + [duplicate]

Question

I am looking at a crontab and there is an entry like:

0 * * * * find /path/to/file -type f -mtime +1 -exec rm {} +  >/dev/null 2>&1

Now personally I would have used \; instead of +

Are the two syntaxes equivalent, or is there any difference between them?
