Accidentally I deleted EFI...

So I create a new partition and format it as FAT 32 (because UEFI support only FAT I think) then I use chroot to reinstall grub.

To reinstall I typed:

grub-install /dev/sda

But it is taking to long....

Note: I am using Puppy linux live os (because my OS won't boot)

  • Grub install uses the UUID of the mount of the ESP in fstab. If new ESP, it will have new UUID (and GUID/partUUID) which UEFI uses to know which partition is ESP. cat /etc/fstab and lsblk -o name, mountpoint, label, size, fstype, uuid, partuuid | egrep -v "^loop"

  • I am able to check it now because due to no response I stop the process and reinstall os. May 28 '21 at 19:41
  • Did you mount --bind host /proc and /sys there in addition to /dev? For future reference, rodsbooks.com/efi-bootloaders might help a lot. May 29 '21 at 5:11
