I have to make a bootable USB with kali with persistence in it as the OS. I was wondering how much resources are used when we boot from the USB i.e. how much RAM is used and if there is any effect of the main OS of the pc on the USB booted OS? Thanks in advance.

  • Having done similar with other operating systems, I know there is an abundance of information both on these sites and on the web that both guide you in doing it and answering many questions. Please do your research before asking questions that already have many answers. To give you a brief answer, however, it does not take a lot of resources--usually only a few MB of RAM. The boot process itself is only temporary. Once it is done starting up the operating system, the operating system takes over and frees up any resources used to boot.
