NOTES section of
$ man 5 sysctl.conf states:
The description of individual parameters can be found in the kernel documentation.
But is there a way for me to find this kernel documentation offline? Is it a package that I'd need to install?
For example, I came across the
kernel.panic parameter, which on my system is set to 0 by default. Looking it up online here, it's described to be:
panic: The value in this file represents the number of seconds the kernel waits before rebooting on a panic. When you use the software watchdog, the recommended setting is 60.
But there is no reasonable way I'd guessed that the
0 there referred to 0 seconds till auto reboot without searching it up online.
