I was reading Chap 34 (Section 34.2) of the book Linux Programming interface, when I came across the following restriction while making use of setpgid() call.

The pid argument may not specify a process that is a session leader. Violation of this rule results in the error EPERM.

I thought that if this restriction wasn't imposed then it would allow process group leaders to leave their process groups thus leaving the group without a leader, not sure if this is correct or no. Appreciate if someone could provide an explanation for the same. Thanks
