I have windows 10 installed on my pc. I installed many linux distros including Ubuntu, Elementary OS, Pop os and debian in dual boot. Out of all of these, bluetooth worked only on debian. I checked the dmesg log and hci0 was detected only in debian. After this I checked the kernel versions and observed that all distros other than debian had 5.x kernel versions while debian had 4.19 kernel version. I also downloaded MXLinux which has kernel 4.19 and bluetooth worked on that too. Why is hci0 device not getting recognized in newer kernels?
The bluetooth adapter is Realtek rtl8723d
