I couldn't connect to the WiFi with the network-manager, so I removed it and installed WICD. I can connect fine with WICD it just seems weird that after connecting to my network there is no icon on the top panel that shows signal strength etc. I have to open the WICD GUI app to see if I'm actually connected and to see signal strength. I'm using Debian 10 with gnome. Is this normal?

  • It does have it but because it's soooo old it may not be compatible with modern Gnome. – user353477 Dec 22 '19 at 17:13
