I am using bspwm. My keyboard has the super key too near to altgr and when trying to write a "{" I often accidentally switch to the 7th workspace, so I thought it'd be best to swap super key with alt key.

I made a file with this line: keysym Alt_L = Super_L, and did xmodmap <name_of_that_file>.

When I tried to switch workspace with alt+<number> nothing happened, but super+<number> still worked. However if I opened xev and pressed the alt key it said I pressed Super_L as if I pressed the super. Why does then sxhkd not register the alt key as super, and how to fix this?

Edit: Playing around with it, I found out this seems to work...

remove Mod4 = Super_L
remove Mod1 = Alt_L
keysym Alt_L = Super_L
keysym Super_L = Alt_L
add Mod1 = Alt_L
add Mod4 = Super_L

However sometimes it randomly seems to stop working and I have no idea why...
