We're running centos 6.7, it doesn't have systemctl. We are using Wowza streaming engine which runs on Java, I'm reporting this issue to wowza as well, maybe it's a bug from their end.

Sometimes when checking the status of the service, it shows as running but it's not and vise versa.

Even when stopped, you try to start it, it says waiting for process x to exit So it's not really stopped, and when it happens, wowza starts reporting false numbers, it says there are 10000 watching the stream, when it's only 100, and the ram gets full. I think Java has something to do with it, not sure.

does this ever happen with services other than wowza?
