Why did you install WICD? What else have you been trying? – user353477 Oct 11 '19 at 1:44

I tried to user WICD instead of Network Manager to see if that was the issue, but that didn't work. I have since then removed WICD. It seems that my network card was not supported by that kernel and updating to the latest 5.1 did the trick! – Jon B Oct 11 '19 at 21:32
  • WICD is never the solution and no, you didn't removed it, at least not when you ran the script. – user353477 Oct 11 '19 at 22:21
