I am trying to build a customized Debian with OpenBox+LightDm setup. Everything works, except for the --firstrun option in Openbox Autostart. In short, I want to run a specific postinstall script "myscript.sh" through the xterminal the first time the computer boots. If I do:

(sleep 10s && x-terminal-emulator -e /usr/bin/myscript.sh --firstrun) &

the xterminal pops up not only the first time the system boots post-install, but subsequently every time as well. If I do

(sleep 10s && x-terminal-emulator -e /usr/bin/myscript.sh) --firstrun &

the script does not run on booting (the first time or otherwise) at all. What am I doing wrong?

A secondary question is: is it possible to test the --firstrun option on Openbox Autostart without actually installing? I am losing a lot of time just installing and booting to debug.
