I have two NVME drives here and want to test their performance in different setups with BTRFS. (Mostly as an educational stunt) I'm going to use the Phoronix suite for the most part.

What I wonder about is this:

To my understanding, the mount option commit will hold files in memory and only write them to disk in the specified interval (I planned to use 120 here). Now, how much of an impact will this have on my disk benchmarks? Let's say I am benching read speed, will it read the test files out of RAM and therefore mess up my results?
