I am attempting to install Krita on my chromebook.

I have 'turned on' linux beta and chromeos prompts me that 'Shared folders are available in Linux at /mnt/chromeos...'

Issue

 debian@penguin:/mnt/chromeos/MyFiles/Downloads$ sudo chmod a+x ./krita-4.2.1-x86_64.appimage
chmod: changing permissions of './krita-4.2.1-x86_64.appimage': Operation not permitted

I also tried

debian@penguin:/mnt/chromeos/MyFiles$ chmod -R a+X *Downloads*
chmod: changing permissions of 'Downloads': Operation not permitted
chmod: changing permissions of 'Downloads/krita-4.2.1-x86_64.appimage': Operation not permitted

I have tried it as root as well.

what is your question? – jsotola Jun 11 at 1:18
  • What happens if you download the file directly into the Linux chroot or move it into the chroot if possible? Then try to change permissions? It appears that you do not have permissions in that directory, even as root. – kemotep Jun 11 at 2:14
