When checking the firewall status using ufw status, does this reflect the current status of iptables or what is currently set in ufw?

For example, lets say the default state of iptables blocks all incoming. Would typing ufw status return that incoming connections are blocked (reflecting iptables) or that the status is inactive (reflecting that no firewall has been set using ufw)?

  • One should really not mix the 2 because ufw over complicates the chains and will not reflect all iptables changes... likely will overwrite them. – user1133275 May 29 '19 at 2:13
