I created a user and added it to its own group

at the bottom of my sshd_config i added

Match Group sftpusers
    ChrootDirectory /var/dir1/dir2
    ForceCommand internal-sftp

However, it gives the following error when I try to connect via SFTP in FileZilla

Disconnected: No supported authentication methods available (server sent: publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic)
Error: Could not connect to server

the suggested way to accomplish this (from what I've seen online) is chrooting into the created users home directory i.e

Match Group sftpusers
    ChrootDirectory /sftp/%u
    ForceCommand internal-sftp

However, is this user able to connect to a root owned directory given that it has wheel group access....
