I'm experiencing multiple issues with my Nvidia driver, the one I'm trying to fix right now is that my laptop won't detect an external display connected via HDMI. For some reason I don't have a xorg.conf file right now, when I generate one or copy over my backup the system is stuck at a black screen with an underscore, it works again after I remove the file by going into recovery. Also worth noting is that when I switched to lightdm it was detecting the external display. When I switched back from lightdm to gdm it wouldn't boot up again till I removed /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Using nouveau is worse as it gets my screen resolution wrong and does not detect the second display either. Xrandr does not detect a second display either.

Also I don't know if this is related or not but, when I use my graphics card (rtx 2060) and suspend the laptop by closing the lid and open it again there's quite a few glitches, like no wallpaper, and choppy scroll which are fixed by restarting the gdm.

Update

I got the nouveau driver working properly and it solved a lot of the issues I was having so while I am gonna stick with it, for now, it does not allow me to use my rtx card or use dual display setup and I'm still looking to fix the dual monitor system.
