I have a PC with a NVIDIA GPU. I plugged the monitor cable into the onboard graphics card, with IGD setting in BIOS is on. nvidia-smi always showed No running process found until today, when it's suddenly shown that Xorg and compiz are using my GPU. It's weird to me.

Is there anyway I can force them not to use my GPU? Since today, there is huge lag and latency on many appilications such as Sublime Text, Foxit Reader, ... if I use GPU for heavy computational job

My specs

OS: Ubuntu 18.04 64bits
CPU: Intel® Core™ i9-9900K
GPU: GeForce GTX 1080

What I've try

Not much, since this is really weird to me and I don't really know how to search for my problem on the net. In the past, I've experienced this behavior (huge lag on app) when using GPU for my monitor, but by switching to integrated graphics, the problem gone. I've tried searching for latency bug of using Sublime and Foxit on GPU monitoring, but no help.

Any suggestion?
