I am working on an assignment where as per the requirement if a command like /bin/test is executed then an interactive command prompt based shell should be started where commands can be typed in and execute those commands using a Java program. And if we type exit, then the prompt should close.

Now I have a shell script named test and I have to write command to ensure the above. I was looking on other answers but they were specifying using gnome-terminal.

Is using gnome-terminal command inside the shell script the only best possible option or is there some other simple way?
