I keep coming back to initramfs after installing various linux distros. The live usb works fine but once installed it is only booting to initramfs, forcing mount did not work and reinstalling windows to gracefully shutdown did not work either. The computer is a hp g71 laptop. I am not dual booting i used the whole disk for linux. KDE neon 5.15.4 is the distro im currently trying. cat / proc/paritions returned major minor #blocks name 8 0 244198584 sda 8 1 244197376 sda1 11 0 1048575 sr0 And dmesg returned a slew of things, the last being

  • Welcome to Unix&Linux StackExchange! You should identify the name and version of the Linux distribution you're using (currently). Are there any error messages before you get the initramfs command prompt? You might also use cat /proc/partitions to see if the kernel is seeing the disk and its partitions correctly. If your distribution uses systemd, use journalctl -xb to view a log of boot events. Also see if dmesg includes any relevant-looking error messages. Please edit your question post to add any further information you may discover. – telcoM Apr 26 at 6:37
