Little Snitch just told me that curl made a silent connection to tools.google.com. I'd like to know why. is there a way to get the history of commands on my system including who executed them?

You have not mentioned what Unix you're using. For a generic answer: enable process accounting, at least that's a start. Also describe what you mean by "silent connection". curl does not make connections to Google by itself. It has to be told to connect to some site. You are looking for something or someone who used curl to call a Goggle REST API (possibly something that does auto-updates). – Kusalananda Apr 2 at 16:40
