The lsusb command is not showing one of the attached USB devices with the 4.14 linux kernel. The same hardware works correctly with the 4.9, 4.4, and 3.2 kernels. The 'missing' USB device is detected, drivers loaded, and works properly. It is only the lsusb command that does not show it. The device is shown using the usb-devices command. If I enter the udevadm trigger --subsystem-match=usb then lsusb shows the missing device. It seems that something has changed in the 4.14 kernel affecting this and I am trying to understand what. Looking at the output from dmesg, I can see the following differences between the 4.9 and 4.14 kernels.

4.9 kernel:

usb 1-2.2: new high-speed USB device number 5 using atmel-ehci
usb 1-2.2: new high-speed USB device number 7 using atmel-ehci
usb 1-2.2: New USB device found, idVendor=1bc7, idProduct=2300

usb 1-2.2: Manufacturer: 'Telit'
usb 1-2.2: SerialNumber: usb_serial_num_0
cdc_acm 1-2.2:1.2: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
cdc_acm 1-2.2:1.4: ttyACM1: USB ACM device
cdc_acm 1-2.2:1.6: ttyACM2: USB ACM device
cdc_ether 1-2.2:1.0 wwan0: register 'cdc_ether' at usb-800000.ehci-2.2, Mobile Broadband Network Device, 00:11:22:33:44:56

4.14 kernel:

usb 1-2.2: new high-speed USB device number 5 using atmel-ehci
usb 1-2.2: New USB device found, idVendor=216f, idProduct=0051
usb 1-2.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 1-2.2: Product: U-Boot 2012.10
usb 1-2.2: Manufacturer: Das U-Boot
usb 1-2.2: SerialNumber: 0000000
usb 1-2.2: USB disconnect, device number 5
usb_id[873]: unable to access '/devices/platform/ahb/800000.ehci/usb1/1-2/1-2.2'
usb 1-2.2: new high-speed USB device number 7 using atmel-ehci
usb 1-2.2: New USB device found, idVendor=1bc7, idProduct=2300
usb 1-2.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=13, Product=14, SerialNumber=15
usb 1-2.2: Product: 'LE866-SV1'
usb 1-2.2: Manufacturer: 'Telit'
usb 1-2.2: SerialNumber: usb_serial_num_0
cdc_acm 1-2.2:1.2: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
cdc_acm 1-2.2:1.4: ttyACM1: USB ACM device
cdc_acm 1-2.2:1.6: ttyACM2: USB ACM device
cdc_ether 1-2.2:1.0 wwan0: register 'cdc_ether' at usb-800000.ehci-2.2, Mobile Broadband Network Device, 00:11:22:33:44:56

It seems that the USB device enumerates as one VID:PID, then disconnects and enumerates with a different VID:PID.

Any ideas where I should look?
