I have an encrypted flash drive drive for some private data. It was set up using dm-crypt/cryptsetup. Everything works fine, except that I always have to use root rights to run

cryptsetup open /dev/... name

I would like to be able to open the disk as a user. If I try to run the above command with userrights, I get

Failed to acquire read lock on device /dev/....
Device /dev/... is not a valid LUKS device.

How can I run cryptsetup open with userrights?
