In screen, the keyboard shortcut ^a ^] runs the paste . command. I want to define an additional custom key binding for that command in .screenrc with the following line:

bindkey "ñ" paste .

In my keyboard, I have a physical key for ñ, so pressing that single key would run the paste . command. However, the line does not work. I just get the ñ character printed when I press the key.

What puzzles me is that similar lines work for other commands like copy or windowlist -b. Is there something special about the paste . command I don't know?

For the record, screen -v prints:

Screen version 4.03.01 (GNU) 28-Jun-15
