I am using Manjaro KDE but had same problem on Mint KDE so I guess it is KDE related... Everytime i connect bluetooth audio device it is inactive in audio manager (Profile: Off) and I cannot change it. A way around is to

pulseaudio -k

and pair device again manually. Would it be possible to write a script which whenever a bluetooth audio device is connected:

  1. reloads pulseaudio -k
  2. repair the device
  3. redirects all audio applications to that device?

Is in linux a concept of "Evnet: bluetooth audio device connected" so you can "hook" into it?

Of course ideally would be making the bluetooth device active in first place but I guess that is another level of tweaking...
