I have a Dell XPS desktop with Deepin Linux where the onboard HDMI doesn't work (no signal). Based on the Ubuntu collected from Ubuntu, Deeping is not identifying some HDMI ports (uname/xrandr/lshw from both systems below) [Deepin]

Since you made a

  1. Deepin ver 15.8 LiveUSB
  2. after confirming its MD5 checksum showed an uncorrupted download
  3. and there was no HDMI video boot from the Deepin LiveUSB
    but
  4. an Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Live USB made after
  5. verifying its checksum shows the ISO download was OK,
  6. and you got HDMI video w/ Ubuntu successfully,

it's a flaw in the Deepin distribution not found in Ubuntu, which is also a Debian-derived distro. Therefore, I suggest you contact Deepin Support.

Note: An alternative process to make a Debian LiveUSB is available, but more complex.
