I can't find any infos on how to update PHP 5.5.14 to the latest PHP 5.6.37 which was released on 19 Jul 2018.
apt-get update and
apt-get upgrade but PHP 5.5.14 is still installed.
OS: openSUSE Leap version 42.3
You can build php on your own and use --with-prefix or --prefix, i.e. /usr/local/php.
If you are not sure what to put behind ./configure command you can copy it from current PHP, it is visible in phpinfo() (compiled with...).
Just, don't forget to use --prefix switch for configure.
You can search for openSUSE packages on software.opensuse.org, you should land here. This would show you a non-official build, so be very careful and make sure you can roll back to a previous state. If you decide to give it a try, add the respective repo to your system and try to install a newer version.
