I tried to spoof my MAC address by adding

[connection-mac-randomization]
wifi.cloned-mac-address=random

to /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf -- and restarting NetworkManager, but after this I am unable to connect.

% nmcli connection up mynetwork ~
Passwords or encryption keys are required to access the wireless network 'mynetwork'.
Warning: password for '802-11-wireless-security.psk' not given in 'passwd-file' and nmcli cannot ask without '--ask' option.
Error: Connection activation failed: Secrets were required, but not provided

Reauthenticating by adding --ask and entering key doesn't work either. The same happens after

% nmcli connection modify mynetwork wifi.cloned-mac-address=random

I haven't configured my router to accept only certain MAC addresses. I'm using Arch Linux on a 2012 Macbook Air.
