I am setting several ulimits (system is rhel 7.5) and i can't find any clarification on the values of
type. From inside the
/etc/security/limits.conf i get that type can get two values while in the configuration example that file contains has 3 values:
- - (dash)
In the example from file below @students there is a type -.
Question when - (dash) is used?
.... #<type> can have the two values: # - "soft" for enforcing the soft limits # - "hard" for enforcing hard limits ..... #<domain> <type> <item> <value> #* soft core 0 #* hard rss 10000 #@student hard nproc 20 #@faculty soft nproc 20 #@faculty hard nproc 50 #ftp hard nproc 0 #@student - maxlogins 4 .....
