I have been working on remote desktop connection for GNOME based desktop. However, everytime i tried to install the xRDP, it failed. It not only includes the Ubuntu (18.04, 16.04 and 14.04), CentOS (6/7) and Fedora (28). Although, I was able to connect the remote desktop connection via LXDE and x2go Client.

Please advise.

Edited-1: Signs and symptoms: The xvnc option screen pops up for credentials. Credentials are entered. Then, xvnc window opens which states that I got connected. It closes and there is grey screen and 'X' mouse cursor. The RDP connection closes and Microsoft window opens where I entered the IP for linux machine. Apologizes for ambiguity.

  • Failed with no error messages? – Ipor Sircer Sep 10 '18 at 16:13
  • "it failed" . Fancy giving us some clues? – roaima Sep 10 '18 at 20:13
  • I didn't check logs. However on display, it showed me a gray screen with 'X' mouse cursor then it opened the Microsoft RDP window. During connection, the xvnc option pops up. I enter the credentials and then the grey screen and reverts back to microsoft RDP window. And in multiple attempts, it showed that I got connected in xvnc window then it's the same loss of connectivity. – Muneeb Ali Sep 11 '18 at 14:27
