1

Untarred and uncompressed a tarball which is debian stretch image on a SD card. It is a 16GB SD card. Before untarring the image to the SD card, I formatted and created a partition using fdisk on Ubuntu VM. Then, I changed the filesystem to ext3 and started the untarring. I'm sure the mounting and unmounting procedure is correct.

The problem is when i try to boot the SD card from single board computer, the kernel doesn't seem finding the filesystem to start. The booting process will just get struck. The last line of the error message shows that

end Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(254,1)

Am i not creating the fs correctly? I tried to fix it using fsck and still not working. The image itself is from Debian

Let me know if more info required to help investigate. Appreciate any help!
