I've just installed a Linux OS (Debian 9) for the first time so I'm very new so I may be missing something obvious. My computer was previously running Windows 10 64-bit when I decided to try Linux. I created a new partition on the same drive as Windows and installed Debian and GRUB as my boot manager. GRUB is able to load Debian fine however when I load Windows 10 it loads the blue installer/recovery screen. Any option I choose will end up giving me an installation error and restart.

I'm able to load Windows fine if I enter BIOS and manually boot with Windows Boot Manager. I think the problem is that it tries to boot Windows in legacy BIOS mode but normally my windows is boot with UEFI and my Debian installed as a legacy boot.

How can I resolve this?

  • Reinstall Debian in UEFI mode. – Johan Myréen May 11 '18 at 10:53
