I have set up Ubuntu 14.04 as an EC2 instance. I have installed Nginx using the following commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install nginx

While most articles tell that the Nginx webpage can be viewed just by typing the ip-address of the server, I'm getting no response. I am trying IPv4 Public IP of the AWS instance. Where I have made mistake or should I configure something?

  • Can you wget the page from the ec2 instance (use the localhost address: 127.0.0.1). Have you configured the firewall? Is nginx running? – Seth Mar 25 '18 at 18:36
  • Is the web server running? What is the output of systemctl status nginx? – arcsin Mar 25 '18 at 18:36
  • @seth wget which page? And I haven't configured the firewall. – Sampad Mund Mar 25 '18 at 18:38
  • The output is : systemctl: command not found – Sampad Mund Mar 25 '18 at 18:40
  • @SampadMund As I recall, by default, nginx serves a success page from 127.0.0.1. – Seth Mar 25 '18 at 18:43
