The solutions posted in previous questions seem to be out of date. Installing the firmware-misc-nonfree package installs all the supposedly required bits and pieces, such as /lib/firmware/mt7601u.bin, which were missing before.

It doesn't work though!

This question appears to be off-topic. The users who voted to close gave this specific reason:

  • "This question has been posted on multiple sites. Cross-posting is strongly discouraged; see the help center and community FAQ for more information." – Jeff Schaller, phk, Michael Homer, sebasth, cas

  • What other questions have you looked at, and what type of system are you on? From firmware-misc-no free I’m presuming Debian or related? – Guy Jan 21 '18 at 13:09
  • I added those links and a debian tag which may appear at some point, but I noticed you'd added the links while I did it. I think the usual way of doing things is to update the question directly with extra info. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of your issue will be along to help soon! – Guy Jan 21 '18 at 13:30
