that screenshot show that one window in fullscreen mode, right? Isn't maybe closing and opening the lid changing the screen resolution? (You'd find out with xrandr) – Tomáš Pospíšek Dec 21 '17 at 19:37
  • @TomášPospíšek yes full screen, please read the edit – Lynob Dec 21 '17 at 19:54
  • Curious. My mother's laptop cycles the resolution of its external display (TV) based on the number of times the lid is closed and opened. Maybe the bugs are related. – Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams Dec 21 '17 at 20:09

so now, that we know what's happening, where next? You could make a script that reacts on lid open and sets the screen to the resolution you need with xrandr. – Tomáš Pospíšek Dec 21 '17 at 20:16

in case any comment was useful you could possibly not forget to mark it as such ...? :-o ;-) – Tomáš Pospíšek Dec 21 '17 at 20:24
