When I boot Linux, after the grub menu, it performs the initial checks, and then just shuts down suddenly. If I then switch it on again it again does the same thing after the grub menu.

Surprisingly, it boots up after turning on like 3 or 4 times. I don't know why or how this is happening. How could I fix it? Is there any log file which I can post here to better debug the problem?

It could be a symptom of a dying hard disk. You are not giving enough details. There are probably no logs on disk, grub is too early on boot, and then the computer dies. – Rui F Ribeiro Dec 17 '17 at 4:17
  • Does sound like hw. Have you been booting without problems previously then this started? Any other OS on the drive that boots? Is this an SSD? – bu5hman Dec 17 '17 at 4:40
  • Yes im dual booting with windows . It starts perfectly . And after selecting kali in grub menu ,it shows the details of booting up ( all those details with black background) . And then shuts down suddenly – Natesh bhat Dec 17 '17 at 8:38

"Non-deterministic" sounds very much like a hardware problem, at least unless we're talking parallel processing or such, and/or have explicitly tested against hardware faults. – ilkkachu Dec 17 '17 at 20:37
