I made a mess at end of limits.conf file in Linux, was supposed to just write: * - nofile 1000000

But I added enter image description here

Will everything still work as it should? If not, how can I remove what I added at the end?

Edit the file with an editor? – Kusalananda Feb 20 '17 at 21:28

That's kind of the beauty of Linux (and Unix, in general) these are, for the most part, simply text files. You should be able to edit them with your favorite command-line text editor (I prefer vim, but proselytizing like that can - and will - start Holy Wars). Other options include emacs (shudder), nano, pico as well as a host of other things. – Thomas N Feb 20 '17 at 21:30
