I noticed some changes at the grub menu: the wallpaper disappeared (Kali logo)

I tried booting in recovery mode running

apt-get clean && apt-get update

but that fails with some error messages, any help?

  • Without the error messages noone is going to be able to help

I had the same issue. that means kali linux have some missing or damaged files.

  sudo apt-get upgrade

if this does not solve

  sudo apt-get install -f

I had to run

Xorg -configure

and move xorg.conf.new to /etc/X11/xorg.conf

The problem was no xorg.conf existed at all. This worked after trying many things

    How does this relate to the failure to start the "Open Vulnerability Assessment System Scanner Daemon"?
