wanted to have a dual boot with windows 10 and linux mint. I booted mint from a usb and clicked "Install Linux Mint". But I am kind of stuck where I need to assign the partitions. I have a ssd and a hdd so I wanted to use the ssd for the root and the hdd for the /home files.

These are my partitions right now.

  • SSD 128GB, windows os
  • HDD 1TB, windows documents

I want this to be my partitions after installing mint

  • SSD, windows os + mint root
  • HDD, windows documents + mint home

I've already assigned the root partition, the home partition. But I have no idea what to put as boot loader installation device. Because last time I had it on "dev/sdb {myssd} (128GB)" and it gave me this error

Unable to install GRUB in /dev/sdb
Executing 'grub-install/dev/sdb failed.
This is a fatal error.

All the options:

  • /dev/sda {My hdd} (1.0TB)
  • /dev/sda1
  • /dev/sda2

  • /dev/sdb {My SSD} (128GB)

  • /dev/sdb1
  • /dev/sdb3
  • /dev/sdb6
  • /dev/sdb4
