In Heirloom Troff, is it possible to just load an OTF font (or another supported format) via a URI? I’m trying,

.fp 10 R /Users/jacob/Restore/Fonts/Roboto/Roboto-Medium.ttf ttf
.ft 10
.ft R

I’m not having any luck, and it’s really hard to find documentation on this. Is it possible to load fonts like this, and if not, what steps does it take to use custom fonts?

  • I would strongly recommend looking at troff to LaTeX tools. Troff may not be a completely dead language, but it's heading there. – msw Dec 31 '15 at 0:58
