I'm trying to install a Linux From Scratch system. I know LFS doesn't come with a package manager. I want to use pacman as my package manager. I googled bout it and found some links bt they are old, and some of the links in them are even 404. Can someone explain how I can get pacman to work with my LFS? Thank You.

  • Could you add that "really old" links into the question? Also if something is 404 it's very likely that it was archived on archive.org – pbm Jan 22 '15 at 11:40
  • @pbm add the link. The link for the patch for libtar is 404. Also what is he trying to say I don't get it. :p – compiler Jan 22 '15 at 11:56

You should probably build pacman from the git source. – mikeserv Jan 22 '15 at 12:54
  • Will it work? I mean the link asks to make PKGBUILD and stuff. – compiler Jan 22 '15 at 13:06
  • What specifically don't you understand in that page ? PKGBUILD are still used by pacman/makepkg and there is documentation in the ArchLinux wiki. Some conventions may have changed, but you can check with the current documentation (and ask here if you can't find something). – Leiaz Jan 22 '15 at 13:11
