is there a way to not use the graphical dialog x11-askpath?

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SSH_Keys#x11-ssh-askpass "The x11-ssh-askpass package provides a graphical dialog for entering your passhrase when running an X session."

damn, i dont want to use this!

  • Sounds like git is trying to use a GUI for some reason, or maybe ssh itself is trying to use a GUI to ask for a password. What's the output of which git, git --version, and which ssh? – jayhendren Mar 10 '14 at 19:31
  • git version is 1.9.0, /usr/bin/git, /usr/bin/ssh – skinney6 Mar 10 '14 at 19:36
  • Please paste the entire output of git --version... – jayhendren Mar 10 '14 at 19:39
  • Also, what happens when you try to ssh somewhere? Do you get the same behavior? git may be invoking ssh in an odd way. – jayhendren Mar 10 '14 at 19:40
