Thanks so much! Do you know if there is a (separate) utility that can tell me whether or not my file is sparse?

@casey ls -l -h says that both files are 20 GB. Likewise, ls -l says that both files are 21214683940 bytes. So I guess the files are the same size, but do not use the same amount of disk space (according to du).
