comment getting the message “out of partition” after installing GRUB 2. What is happening?
Was the system you DD'd from running grub2 without issues? If you list/check your partitions from the live cd, are they still the same sizes you allocated when originally installing?

comment Should I use `sudo` or `su` in a startup script?
Agreed. I was simply stating what I've seen used as convention on most Linux/Unix in the past; sudo generally for a single root based command while su more generally to execute as another user.

comment Get newest gcc for debian?
Are you looking for an alternative to downloading the gcc source files and compiling yourself, or are you ok with building the package from source?

comment i386 libtool conflicting with x86_64 libtool when installing Handbrake
What requires the i386 version of libtool? I'd recommend doing a force install of the x86_64 binary if that won't crash your system. I'm not using centos so I'm not sure of the dependencies. If your running on a VM, I'd highly recommend creating a snapshot first.

Are you trying to support both sets of keys simultaneously in vim?

comment What is the recommended filesystem to use when reaching sizes of 50TB?
Interesting read. Like I said, I haven't used it myself, and I'm not sure if I ever will due to the general lack of support outside of Solaris, but it was specificaly designed to handle large amounts of data. Reiser may be better for your application due to the better support or possibly ext4 like you said. Good luck, I'd be interested to know what you end up using and your general results.

comment What is the proper way to automate SSH/local command?
Very true. I was just thinking that this may be easier to use a bash alias or something simple like that. I am a big fan of expect now though; made my life much easier.

comment Can ping but can't do ssh
Does he have an SSH daemon (sshd) running? Also, is he behind a router? If he is, you'll need port forwarding enabled on the router.

Also, with SSH you can use authentication keys as well which will automatically log you in without having to store your username/pass in a .bashrc file as plain text.
