I like to spend time with my lovely wife, our two beautiful daughters, and our dog. I'm also a fan of geek humor, and I've been known to flip out and write codeā€¦ elegant code, if I'm really lucky.

comment Translate GNU ps flags to standard flags
On FreeBSD, I needed to switch it to -U instead of -u. On OpenBSD it doesn't have -A. I am rather sad that my beloved BSDs aren't obeying the standard.

Am I misreading the various man pages, or is there no one combination of flags that will work on OS X, BSD, and Linux?

@StephaneChazelas ps x might be BSD syntax, but it's not a valid flag to ps. man ps On the other hand, it does seem to valid on Linux (a Linux distro's man ps). Since Linux distros use the GNU userland, I assumed it was a GNU thing.

comment Why would someone choose FreeBSD over Linux?
@ashwin FreeBSD handbook is hands-down the best docs I've seen for an OS. The closest I've seen is probably the Gentoo handbook. The BSD man pages also tend to be very nice, although OpenBSD's man pages are probably better than FreeBSD's.
