Choppy animations in desktop using fglrx driver in openSUSE 11.4 Where did you install fglrx from? I followed this guide and it worked like a charm. That repository also gets updates. |

Why are libraries shipped separately instead of bundled with every program? This was an interesting read, but it talks more about the implementation details and various Python specifics than the general philosophy. |

Why are libraries shipped separately instead of bundled with every program? In the end, this is perhaps the most important point. I agree with the other answers as well, but I had to pick just one. :) |

Which of the bigger distributions offers the latest updates? Oh, and one more thing, if you are running new(ish) hardware or a laptop, the constant kernel updates of Arch and Tumbleweed might make a really noticeable difference in your experience, due to driver updates and additions. |

Why are libraries shipped separately instead of bundled with every program? While I agree in general, it does create an extra burden (however small) that means that probably no one would back this solution. |

Why are libraries shipped separately instead of bundled with every program? All good points. I suppose it could be read as "future-proofing": few of your points apply currently (mpmath is used in only a couple other projects at the moment), but it's easy to see that each of your points gains value for every new project using mpmath. |
