Slightly geeky, overly cynical and delusional about my own self importance.

Also, does it work if you list the script name explicitly in sudo rather than the wildcard (and is the filename a symbolic link?).

What does visudo -c return (checks sudoers for errors). Also, can you confirm the full version of AIX (oslevel -s) and the version of sudo installed?

comment DNS works half of the time in Oracle VirtualBox and I can't even maintain /etc/hosts file
8.8.8.8 works fine anywhere in the world - if you're doing the stuff above on your company network, then your company is blocking 8.8.8.8. I run plenty of CentOS and RHEL under VirtualBox. VB is doing nothing with DHCP or DNS. You need to find out why your DHCP is being inconsistent.

Plus -if you can't get to 8.8.8.8 from your host, you'll never get to it from your VM. So you need to find out why you're getting inconsistent DHCP responses, or which DHCP server is giving out 8.8.8.8.

It's only going to get 8.8.8.8 from either your DHCP server(s) or static config.

Which dhcp client are you running on the various images, how is that dhcp client configured to handle DNS, also, which network manager (if any) are you using on the servers?

comment How come zipping a created disk image, makes smaller files than piping?
Also, as well as richard's comment, can you add the output of ls -l image.gz in both cases (assuming that's what you called it). Lastly, are you sure rdiskx isn't changing between executions?

comment Give a user the permission to access files in a directory
Can you describe what happens. Do the commands generate errors, do they work but the user is still not able to access files, etc. Also, can you show the command used to mount the NFS filesystem, and the resulting mount details.
