Slightly geeky, overly cynical and delusional about my own self importance.

comment Other than a kill command or a system kill(pid, signal) command, what can cause a SIGKILL to occur for a process?
Check errpt - depending on the trigger, you may see some related entry in there.

The ODM is a set of files. The API gives access to those files. So they both meet your needs. 'The ODM files are generally in /etc/objrepos'` as in the answer.

comment Is there a way to tell sudo to set my username as owner for the files created instead of root?
Yes, mistype on my part - but I assume the user ID in question can't read the file either, because they still wouldn't need sudo. So we have to assume the user ID intended to own the final file has no access to the original file. Either way, this isn't a sudo 'problem'. Your answer suggests preserving an owner that we have to assume isn't desired.

Can you use ssh and does it work if you do? I've just installed Terminator v0.95 on Debian and can ssh into an AIX machine, TERM is xterm, and it all works fine.

Can you include in your query the output from echo $TERM from your AIX session. Also, what terminal type have you told Terminator 0.95 to emulate? Finally, by remote in, do you mean ssh, telnet, rlogin, etc?

I presume the person running sudo doesn't own the original file, otherwise they wouldn't need to use sudo.
